Burnham Park Hall: Eco request

Burnham Park Hall is committed to doing what it can to reduce any negative environmental and social impact that we might have, in line with the Parish Council’s priorities. With this mind we have moved over to recycled and fair-trade products, and adopted green energy options and reduced waste; and are investigating further options such as additional insultation and LED lighting.

As part of this we are asking users of the hall to all reduce their own impact on the environment as far as possible. Some of these are the obvious everyday steps we’re sure that you already do – switching off lights and air-conditioning when not in use, reducing unnecessary paper use etc.

There is particular scope to reduce impact when it comes to catering. With that in mind we ask hall users, especially those organising events with catering, to try to do as many of the following as possible, and to use caterers who do the same:

• use recycled, reusable, or recyclable packaging;

• avoid disposable products where possible;

• use local produce and consider food miles;

• offer plant-based options;

• use tap water rather than bottled;

• recycle.

 

Whilst this does not currently form part of the terms and conditions for hiring the hall, it’s something we really appreciate the efforts of our hirers and caterers in supporting.
